What does Charles River Web Connections (CRWC) do?
What types of clients does CRWC have?
What does CRWC do?
CRWC is a web design & development company. We meet with clients and do in-depth research to develop a strong understanding of the client's industry. We then put together a website that encompasses the image the company is trying to project. Sites can include such features as graphic-intensive designs (incorporating Macromedia's Flash), to server-side scripting and databases for securing data. For a full list of features please refer to our Services page.
What types of clients does CRWC have?
CRWC has a variety of customers and is not limited to any one type of industry, company, or person. We have worked with large organizations as well as individuals who are looking for a site to fit their needs.
How much does it cost?
After consultation with the client, CRWC puts together a proposal explaining the cost of the site as well as what is entailed with the site development. With our competitive rates and ability to work with budgets of all sizes, you are guaranteed a web presence you will be proud of.
How does the process work?
After meeting with client and doing initial research, we provide three to five (more or less, as needed) digital composite drawings. These "drawings" are mock-ups of what the website would look like were it to be online. While there is no coding involved, the client will be able to see different colors, pictures, and texts (provided in a PDF format). It should be noted that during this time, the client will be involved with setting up a hosting package. This includes getting the desired URL (such as "http://yournamehere.com" or "http://thisname.org"), and deciding how much time the project should be online for.
If the look has been properly captured, it is then scripted. We will place all content (provided by you, read below for more information) into the design and follow by testing the site on a variety of browsers (Firefox, Internet Explorer, Netscape Navigator, Safari, etc) and operating systems (Windows and Macintosh).
When it all checks out, the client receives a designated online address where they can look through their website. As soon as it is signed off on, the site goes live around the world.
What will I need to do?
Design is about information. We take what we gather from meetings with the client, as well as our own research to develop sites that will fit your company. What we need from you, the client, is to share your vision. Do you like a certain color? Do you like the way a certain website is laid out? Do you have a specific type of picture you want present on every page? It is important for us to have your input so that we can create cohesive designs that fit your company. On top that, it is required that the client provide all necessary text. Questions you should ask yourself: Do I want a biography on the page? How many different pages do I need? If you have any questions, ask us. We are here to help you get the best website out there.
Do you provide a place to host my website?
While CRWC is not a server company, we do work closely with the client to find a server that will fit the client's needs at the most affordable cost. We then work with you to set up the server and customize it so that your domain name is set up as well as your e-mail system.
Do you maintain sites?
While CRWC does maintains sites, we can also send over a representative to train someone in your organization to update and manage the site using a custom Content Management System (CMS).
Where is CRWC based?
CRWC is based in the greater Boston area. However, we have clients across the United States.
How long does the process take?
Because every website's deployment is different, time varies case-to-case. Each site is unique. The time depends on client requirements (amount of composites requested, high-end graphics), research, resources (amount of pictures, time it takes to gather content). We discuss a delivery date and site testing more fully as a development plan is created. We work to complete prior to deadlines without compromising quality.
